Casa Wabi Orchid Pavillion

Coastal desert eco-systems are amongst the most fragile environments on earth. The ever-changing ocean moods interacting with land generates erosion and requires flexibility, porosity, and resilience. These natural forces strongly influenced the design for a greenhouse for orchids at Casa Wabi. Site preparation will include concrete foundations with a series of hollow steel posts, which will serve as structure, and can couple as conduit for lights/electricity and an irrigation system. The 6 repeated bamboo units would be lifted and mounted to these foundations. The ETFE would come pre-assembled from cut shapes, like a fitted bedsheet, and be clamped to the bamboo structure and foundation.
